Description

Liquid argon time projection chambers (LArTPCs) are being used in a wide variety of short and long baseline neutrino experiments. Given the ambiguous nature of neutrino-nucleon interactions, characterization of the response for LArTPC’s for various particle species is an important aspect of the physics program for any experiment using such a detector. The LArIAT (Liquid Argon TPC In A Testbeam) experiment takes a small liquid argon TPC and places it in a charged particle test beam at Fermilab to perform a detailed characterization of incident charged particles in energy ranges important to neutrino experiments. This talk will present an overview of the performance of the LArIAT experiment during its initial run and prospects for the next run in 2016.

The talks are supported by the Wright Laboratory, Physics Department, and Yale University
