Description
Federal funding for the sciences in this country faces uncertainty in our current political climate. In an effort to advocate for continued support in the upcoming federal budget, nuclear physicists from around the country convened in Washington, D.C. last week to meet with members of the US legislative branch. I will describe the event itself, strategies for discussing science with politicians, and my experiences meeting with various congressional staffers. Further, I will discuss the reception we received in the Capitol, as well as potential ways to engage your own representatives.
